Aazol – Traditional foods of Maharashtra
Aazol started its journey with a chance meeting with some women self-help groups, making some excellent traditional, homemade food products, using recipes and ways of production that had been passed down generations. The traditional food of Maharashtra they brought were of extremely high quality and made in small batches in a home-like environment or on the farms. What attracted us the most was the loving stories they told us behind every product we sampled. At the same time, it saddened us to witness the struggles they faced in taking their products out to a larger market, and the criticism they dealt with at home and outside while putting their labor of love out there. There is an idea germinated to create a market for the best Maharashtrian food and collaborate with these courageous women to help build something that would transcend the boundaries they faced and give healthy and wholesome products to urban customers who were looking to go back to the nutritious and clean food of their childhood.
